A Celtic Wedding at Tibble Fork: Kilts, Swords, and an Evening of Magic

Some weddings feel like they belong in a storybook, and this Celtic-inspired wedding at Tibble Fork last August was exactly that. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Wasatch Mountains, the entire evening was infused with tradition, love, and a touch of Highland magic.

A Warm Summer Evening in the Mountains

Tibble Fork, with its serene alpine lake and towering pines, provided the perfect setting for this unique celebration. The air was warm with the lingering heat of summer, and the gentle babbling of a nearby brook added to the enchantment of the evening. As the sun dipped lower in the sky, guests gathered for a ceremony rich in Celtic heritage.

Kilts, Lace, and a Sword Arch Processional

The groom and his groomsmen fully embraced their Scottish roots, wearing traditional kilts that made a striking contrast against the lush green surroundings. The bride was an absolute vision in a form-fitting, whimsical lace gown, the delicate fabric catching the golden light filtering through the trees.

One of the most breathtaking moments of the ceremony was the couple’s grand entrance under an archway of drawn swords—a timeless tradition symbolizing strength, protection, and honor. The moment was cinematic, enhanced only by the natural beauty surrounding them.

Capturing the Ceremony: Photography and Videography

For this wedding, I had the honor of documenting both photography and videography of the ceremony. Every detail—the nervous anticipation, the glint of the swords overhead, the emotion in the couple’s eyes—was captured in natural, available light. The setting didn’t need strobes or artificial lighting; the soft, golden glow of the evening sun did all the work, lending a warm, organic feel to every shot.

A Feast Fit for Royalty

As the sun began to set, the newlyweds hosted a feast for their guests, a celebration filled with laughter, music, and heartfelt toasts. Before the meal, we gathered for wedding party portraits, the kilts and flowing gowns framed beautifully by the towering evergreens and the soft twilight sky.

Dancing Into the Night

With dinner concluded, the couple continued the celebration with timeless wedding traditions. The father-daughter dance was heartfelt and tender, followed by the newlywed’s first dance—a quiet, intimate moment before the party truly began. The garter toss and cake cutting brought laughter and cheers, and as night fell, dancing carried on under the stars.

A Natural Approach to Storytelling

One of my favorite aspects of this wedding was the way it unfolded so organically. There were no harsh flashes or intrusive lighting setups—just pure, natural light, allowing the authenticity of the moment to shine through. The flickering glow of lanterns and twinkling string lights eventually took over as the night deepened, making for the perfect fairytale ending.

A Night to Remember

Photographing and filming this Celtic-inspired wedding was an unforgettable experience. From the grand sword arch to the warmth of family and friends gathered under the open sky, every detail came together to create something truly special.
