A Celtic Wedding at Tibble Fork: Kilts, Swords, and an Evening of Magic

Some weddings feel like they belong in a storybook, and this Celtic-inspired wedding at Tibble Fork last August was exactly that. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Wasatch Mountains, the entire evening was infused with tradition, love, and a touch of Highland magic.

A Warm Summer Evening in the Mountains

Tibble Fork, with its serene alpine lake and towering pines, provided the perfect setting for this unique celebration. The air was warm with the lingering heat of summer, and the gentle babbling of a nearby brook added to the enchantment of the evening. As the sun dipped lower in the sky, guests gathered for a ceremony rich in Celtic heritage.

Kilts, Lace, and a Sword Arch Processional

The groom and his groomsmen fully embraced their Scottish roots, wearing traditional kilts that made a striking contrast against the lush green surroundings. The bride was an absolute vision in a form-fitting, whimsical lace gown, the delicate fabric catching the golden light filtering through the trees.

One of the most breathtaking moments of the ceremony was the couple’s grand entrance under an archway of drawn swords—a timeless tradition symbolizing strength, protection, and honor. The moment was cinematic, enhanced only by the natural beauty surrounding them.

Capturing the Ceremony: Photography and Videography

For this wedding, I had the honor of documenting both photography and videography of the ceremony. Every detail—the nervous anticipation, the glint of the swords overhead, the emotion in the couple’s eyes—was captured in natural, available light. The setting didn’t need strobes or artificial lighting; the soft, golden glow of the evening sun did all the work, lending a warm, organic feel to every shot.

A Feast Fit for Royalty

As the sun began to set, the newlyweds hosted a feast for their guests, a celebration filled with laughter, music, and heartfelt toasts. Before the meal, we gathered for wedding party portraits, the kilts and flowing gowns framed beautifully by the towering evergreens and the soft twilight sky.

Dancing Into the Night

With dinner concluded, the couple continued the celebration with timeless wedding traditions. The father-daughter dance was heartfelt and tender, followed by the newlywed’s first dance—a quiet, intimate moment before the party truly began. The garter toss and cake cutting brought laughter and cheers, and as night fell, dancing carried on under the stars.

A Natural Approach to Storytelling

One of my favorite aspects of this wedding was the way it unfolded so organically. There were no harsh flashes or intrusive lighting setups—just pure, natural light, allowing the authenticity of the moment to shine through. The flickering glow of lanterns and twinkling string lights eventually took over as the night deepened, making for the perfect fairytale ending.

A Night to Remember

Photographing and filming this Celtic-inspired wedding was an unforgettable experience. From the grand sword arch to the warmth of family and friends gathered under the open sky, every detail came together to create something truly special.

If you’re planning a wedding that embraces tradition, natural beauty, and heartfelt moments, let’s chat! I’d love to help capture your own unique love story.

A Magical Winter Wedding at the Bountiful Utah Temple

As a Bountiful Utah photographer, I have the privilege of capturing some of life’s most meaningful moments, and Ken and Jacynda’s LDS temple wedding was no exception. This beautiful couple flew in from Florida to be sealed for time and all eternity in the Bountiful Utah Temple, surrounded by their closest family and friends.

A Special Sealing in the Bountiful Utah Temple

Bountiful Utah LDS temple in winter with snow and a cloudy sky

Ken and Jacynda chose the Bountiful Utah Temple because it holds deep significance for their family, with many loved ones living nearby. On the afternoon of February 15th, the weather was a crisp 33 degrees and cloudy, with the sun making a valiant effort to peek through. The snow and frost blanketing the temple grounds added a touch of magic, making the entire scene feel like a romantic winter wonderland.

Capturing Precious Moments in the Cold

After their sealing, Ken and Jacynda emerged from the temple doors to a heartwarming sight—their two-year-old grandson eagerly waiting to greet them. Moments like these are what make wedding photography so special! Knowing that everyone was braving the cold, I worked quickly to capture the joy and love shared among family members.

We started with the largest group photos first and gradually worked down to just the bride and groom. Ken and Jacynda both looked radiant in their white wool jackets. Ken paired his with black trousers, while Jacynda wore a black skirt that complemented her winter wedding look beautifully. Despite the chilly temperatures, their warmth and happiness radiated through every shot.

The Beauty of a Winter LDS Temple Wedding

The Bountiful Utah Temple is truly breathtaking year-round, but there’s something extra special about a winter LDS temple wedding. The temple’s pristine architecture, combined with the snow-covered grounds, made for a stunning and romantic backdrop. The contrast of their elegant attire against the frosted landscape added an ethereal touch to their wedding photos.

Ken and Jacynda’s love story is a testament that it’s never too late to celebrate love and commitment. Their wedding day was filled with heartfelt moments, laughter, and the support of their dear family. It was an absolute honor to document their special day as a Bountiful Utah photographer.

If you’re planning a Bountiful Utah Temple wedding, I’d love to help you capture your most cherished memories. Whether it’s a summer celebration or a winter wonderland like Ken and Jacynda’s, let’s create beautiful, timeless photos together!

What Happens If You Can’t Make It to Our Wedding?

One of the biggest concerns couples have when booking a wedding photographer is, “What happens if you can’t be there?” While I take my responsibility as your photographer very seriously and prioritize my health and well-being with daily exercise and a healthy lifestyle, life can sometimes throw unexpected challenges our way.

A Strong Commitment to Your Wedding

With over 16 years of experience, I have never missed a wedding except for one extreme and unexpected situation—waking up in the hospital with a brain tumor nine years ago, the morning of a wedding. Even in that moment, I understood how critical it was for my couple to have a professional photographer present, so I called upon my strong network of trusted photographers, and a highly skilled colleague stepped in to capture their day beautifully.

My Backup Plan: A Reliable Network of Professionals

I believe in building relationships, not just competition, and I maintain a close network of experienced wedding photographers—both peers and those I mentor and coach. If an emergency ever arises, I have a strong, trusted team I can call on to ensure you have a talented professional there to capture your wedding, seamlessly and without added stress to you.

How I Ensure a Smooth Transition

  • Immediate Communication: If an emergency were ever to occur, I would notify you immediately and provide you with a plan of action.

  • A Trusted Replacement: I work only with highly skilled photographers whose style aligns with mine, ensuring consistency in your images.

  • Editing & Final Delivery: If a replacement photographer steps in, I still handle the editing and delivery of your images to maintain the quality and style you booked me for.

Peace of Mind for Your Big Day

While emergencies are rare, you can rest assured knowing that I have a proven system in place to protect your wedding memories. Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life, and I am fully committed to making sure it is documented beautifully—no matter what.

How Do I Handle Lighting in Different Situations?

Lighting is one of the most crucial elements in wedding photography, and over the past 16 years, I’ve mastered the art of working in every conceivable lighting condition—from bright midday sun to the dimmest candlelit receptions, and even outdoor nighttime celebrations.

Adapting to Any Lighting Condition

I have photographed weddings in direct, harsh sunlight, near-total darkness, and everything in between. My approach ensures that no matter what lighting challenges arise, I can deliver stunning, high-quality images that reflect the beauty of your day.

My Lighting Philosophy: Balance & Creativity

  • Natural Light: Whenever possible, I use available natural light to create soft, timeless images with a beautiful glow.

  • Artificial Light: I bring professional lighting equipment to every wedding but use it sparingly and strategically to enhance—not overpower—the moment.

  • Creating Drama & Beauty: Whether with strobe lighting for a bold, editorial look or delicate natural light for an intimate feel, I customize my lighting techniques to suit your venue, mood, and vision.

Experience in Low-Light & Nighttime Photography

For couples who envision romantic nighttime portraits or have dimly lit venues, I have the tools and expertise to make those images just as breathtaking. I’ve successfully photographed weddings in near-total darkness at a bride’s request, achieving striking and artistic results that highlight emotion and ambiance.

The Bottom Line: You’ll Look Amazing in Any Light

No matter your venue or time of day, I ensure that your wedding photos are vibrant, dynamic, and true to the atmosphere of your celebration.

Have You Photographed at My Wedding Venue Before?

One of the most common questions I receive from couples is: “Have you photographed at our venue before?” While I have captured countless weddings in a wide variety of locations, there’s always a chance that your specific venue is new to me. However, with over 16 years of experience, I have photographed at venues of all styles, sizes, and lighting conditions, ensuring that I can create stunning images no matter where your wedding takes place.

Why Experience Matters More Than Familiarity

Even if I haven’t photographed at your exact venue, there’s a very high likelihood that I’ve worked in a setting with a similar layout, lighting, and aesthetic. From grand ballrooms to intimate gardens, rustic barns to modern industrial spaces, I have the expertise to adapt quickly and creatively.

How I Prepare for a New Venue

  1. Research & Planning – Before your wedding, I thoroughly research the venue, looking at online images and floor plans to understand the layout and best photography spots.

  2. Venue Visit (If Needed) – If your venue is particularly unique or challenging, I’ll schedule a visit beforehand to scout locations and lighting conditions.

  3. Collaboration with Your Team – I coordinate with venue staff, planners, and coordinators to ensure a seamless photography experience.

  4. Expertise in Lighting – Whether your venue is flooded with natural light or requires advanced lighting setups, I bring the right equipment and knowledge to handle any scenario.

The Bottom Line? You’re in Good Hands

My experience and adaptability mean you’ll get breathtaking wedding photos, no matter the venue. I have the skills, equipment, and creativity to capture your day beautifully, ensuring that every moment is preserved exactly as you envision it.

My approach is all about flexibility and customization to meet the unique needs of each client and the desired look for their session.

Tailored to the Setting

The equipment and lighting I use vary based on several factors, including:

  • Location: Whether we’re in my studio, at your office, or at an outdoor location, I choose the gear that best suits the environment.

General Wardrobe Tips for Your Headshot Session

If you’re looking for quick pointers, here are some tried-and-true guidelines for headshot wardrobe selection:

  1. Stick to Solid Colors: Solids are timeless and won’t distract from your face. Neutral tones, jewel tones, and soft pastels are excellent choices.

  2. Avoid Bold Patterns and Logos: These can be distracting and may date your headshot.

  3. Choose Fitted Clothing: Tailored outfits photograph better than loose or oversized garments.

  4. Layer Strategically: Jackets, blazers, or cardigans add structure and depth to your look.

How Will My Headshots Be Edited?

Discover how professional headshot retouching enhances your best features while keeping your photos natural and authentic. From removing temporary skin imperfections and flyaway hairs to optional edits like wrinkle reduction, we ensure your headshot looks polished and professional. Learn about our subtle editing process designed to create the best version of you without looking fake or overly airbrushed

When you book a professional headshot session, you’re investing in more than just the photography itself. Editing is a vital part of the process, ensuring that your final images reflect the very best version of you while maintaining a natural and authentic look. Let’s dive into what you can expect when it comes to editing your headshots.

My Approach to Editing

Every image I deliver to clients undergoes professional editing. My goal is to enhance your appearance without altering your natural features or making the image feel overly processed. I want you to look like yourself—just your best and most polished self. Here’s how I approach editing:

  • Temporary Skin Imperfections: I remove blemishes, redness, or other temporary issues that may be present on the day of your session.

  • Flyaway Hairs: Stray hairs can be distracting, so I tidy them up in post-production.

  • Skin Tone Adjustments: I make sure your skin looks even and healthy while staying true to your natural coloring.

Optional Edits: Your Preferences Matter

For clients who want additional adjustments, I’m happy to accommodate. Upon request, I can:

  • Reduce or remove wrinkles or permanent blemishes.

  • Make other subtle edits to match your preferences.

However, I always strive to keep the images looking real and not overly airbrushed or artificial. Authenticity is key in creating headshots that resonate with your audience and accurately represent who you are.

Temporary skin imperfections are edited.

Why Editing Matters

Even with great lighting, posing, and camera work, editing is what brings everything together. It’s the finishing touch that ensures your headshot is polished and professional. Proper editing:

  • Enhances your confidence by presenting you in the best light.

  • Removes distractions so the focus remains on your face and expression.

  • Creates a cohesive, high-quality image ready for professional use.

Please wear clean clothing to your session….but if you don’t…I’m still going to make you look good.

My Promise to You

When you receive your edited headshots, they will still look like you—just the best version of you. My editing style is subtle and natural, enhancing your unique features rather than masking them. Whether your headshot is for LinkedIn, your company’s website, or another professional setting, you can trust that it will make the right impression.

Ready to Elevate Your Professional Image?

If you’re ready to book a headshot session and experience this level of care and attention, let’s get started! I’ll guide you through the process, from posing to editing, to deliver a headshot that’s polished, professional, and authentically you.

How Do You Ensure Clients Feel Comfortable During the Shoot?

Let’s face it: being in front of a camera can feel a little awkward—even intimidating. Many people worry about looking stiff, unnatural, or unsure of how to pose. That’s why one of the most common questions I get is, “How will you help me feel comfortable during the shoot?” The good news? Helping clients relax and look their best is one of my superpowers.

A Relaxed, No-Rush Environment

First and foremost, I believe in creating a low-pressure atmosphere where you never feel rushed. Taking the time to ease into the session allows you to feel more comfortable and confident in front of the camera. I’ll guide you through every step of the process, ensuring we go at a pace that feels right for you. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or completely new to professional photography, I’ll make sure the experience is enjoyable and stress-free.

Guided Posing for Natural, Authentic Images

Many people worry about not knowing how to pose, but that’s where I come in. You don’t have to know a single thing about posing because I’ll guide you through easy, comfortable poses that highlight your best features. These aren’t overly complicated or forced—they’re designed to help you look natural and authentic while feeling at ease. I’ll also offer tips for subtle adjustments, like how to tilt your head or position your hands, so we capture your most flattering angles.

Bringing Out Your Genuine Smile

One of the secrets to a great headshot is capturing a genuine expression. My approach? I bring a little humor and playfulness to the session. I’ve been told I’m a bit of a dork—and honestly, that’s a good thing! My goofy side helps break the ice and makes people feel like they’re chatting with an old friend rather than posing for a formal photo. By keeping the mood light and fun, I help you feel relaxed, which shines through in your smile and overall expression.

Building Trust and Confidence

From the moment you book your session, my goal is to build trust and confidence. I take the time to listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and explain what to expect during the shoot. By fostering this open communication, you’ll feel more prepared and less nervous when it’s time to step in front of the camera.

Celebrating Your Uniqueness

Everyone has something unique about them that makes their personality shine. My job is to highlight that through the lens. Whether it’s your confidence, your approachable demeanor, or your creativity, I work to capture the essence of who you are in a way that feels natural and effortless. No cookie-cutter poses here—just authentic images that reflect the real you.

Ready to Feel Confident in Front of the Camera?

If you’ve been putting off a headshot session because you feel awkward in front of the camera, let me assure you: it doesn’t have to be that way. My approach is all about making the experience fun, easy, and tailored to you. By the time we’re done, you’ll not only love your photos but might even find yourself enjoying the process. Let’s work together to create a headshot that’s not only professional but authentically YOU.

  • Reflect Approachability: Create a friendly and inviting image that resonates with your audience.

Outdoor sessions are perfect for Realtors, entrepreneurs, and anyone who wants a fresh, modern take on headshots.
